    301.jpgArmenian and Turkish organizations participating in the 37th Conference of the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) have released a joint statement, calling on Turkey to get rid of the Article 301 which restricts the freedom of speech.
    That statement reads:
    "We strongly believe that the protection of human rights throughout Turkey and the South Caucasus is key in the process of peace-building, reconciliation and good neighborly relations between all countries in the region, in order to ensure safety, wellbeing and dignity of people across borders.
    "We call on both countries and societies in Armenia and Turkey to join their efforts and to create the necessary environment and processes to compensate for any negative consequences of human rights abuses committed in the past, including discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, religion etc, and to adhere to the standards of human rights protection as defined by international instruments.

    exern.jpgUpon consideration of an appeal by city council parliamentarian Arayik Mkrtchyan, as well as Ararat community of Cherkassk region and a priest of the religious community of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Cherkassk city council decided to urge the Ukrainian President and parliament to support the Armenian people and confirm legislatively the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide at the hands of the Ottoman Empire.
    According to representatives of Ararat Armenian community, this is an extremely important event for the Armenian Diaspora of Ukraine and the Armenian people, as a whole. Ararat Armenian community and the religious community of the Armenian Apostolic Church expressed their gratitude to parliamentarians for the support. The community especially appreciated the efforts of Head of Cherkassk city council Sergey Odarich, Secretary of Cherkassk city council Vasily Marinkevich and all supporting parliamentarians, as well as experts, Analitika.at.ua reported.

    malta_logo.jpgOn 18-20 of July 2010 Malta hosted European Athletics Contest.  Republic of Armenia was represented by Armenian athletics national team headed by the president of Armenian Athletics Federation repeated European champion Robert Emmiyan.
    While in Malta the representatives of the national team actively correlated with the members of the Armenian Diaspora in Malta
    .
    Sport delegation of Armenia leaded by Robert Emmiyan and Sarkis Khachatryan together with the Chairperson of the Armenian Community of Malta Vera Boyajyan laid flowers
    as tribute to the memory of the victims of the years 1375 and 1915 on the pedestal of Khachqar installed in the center of Valletta by the Armenian Community of Malta.
    Armenian Diaspora in Malta was very much pleased both by the results of the contest and simply by meeting their compatriots.

    cimg0734.jpgIn connection to the 65th anniversary of the victory in World War II a wreath-laying ceremony was held in Valletta, Malta at the Armenian Khachqar, situated in Hastings Gardens. The ceremony was held with the participation of Members of Board of the Armenian Community of Malta headed by its Chairperson Vera Boyajyan, Director of Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Malta Sergey Medvedev and Chairperson of the Coordination Board of Russian Compatriot in Malta Snezhana Bodishtyanu. All the participants honoured the memory of soldiers died during the World War II.
